Zu den wichtigsten Modulen eines Modularsynthesizers zählen LFO, VCO und VCF.
LFO = Low Frequency Oscillator. Der LFO ist ein langsam schwingender Oscillator unterhalb der Hörschwelle, der andere Module modulieren kann.
VCO = Voltage Controlled Oscillator. Dies ist der Hauptklangerzeuger – ein elektrischer Oszillator, der einfache Audio-Wellenformen mit unterschiedlichem Obertongehalt liefert. Die Tonhöhe und andere Parameter können von anderen Modulen gesteuert werden (voltage controlled). Liefert den Grundton im Modularsynthesizer.
VCF = Voltage Controlled Filter. Der VCF ist ein elektronisch gesteuerter Filter, der den Obertongehalt eines Klanges beeinflusst und klangfarbliche Ausschnitte aus den zugeführten Klängen extrahieren kann. Dieser Filter wird in der Komposition benutzt, um natürliche Klänge zu bearbeiten.
In der Mixtur der Klangstücke stehen diese Module jeweils im Vordergrund. Die Klangstücke stehen auf der Webseite modula2021.bandcamp.com als Download zur Verfügung und werden während der Ausstellung über eine Tonbandmaschine wiedergegeben.

VCO = Voltage Controlled Oscillator. This is the main sound generator – an electric oscillator that provides simple audio waveforms with varying harmonic content. The pitch and other parameters can be controlled by other modules (voltage controlled). Provides the fundamental in the modular synthesizer.
VCF = Voltage Controlled Filter. The VCF is an electronically controlled filter that affects the harmonic content of a sound and can extract timbral sections from the supplied sounds. This filter is used in composition to process natural sounds.
In the mixture of the sound pieces, these modules are in the foreground in each case. The sound pieces are available for download on the website modula2021.bandcamp.com and will be played back via a tape machine during the exhibition.
